Retreat Rules 


 

What to Bring for Week-end Retreat:

This is a modern, fully equipped facility consisting of a spacious main house, a Coach house with dormitory-style rooms, and meeting rooms. Accommodations are arranged according to availability.

Food and linens are all supplied for the Retreat weekends. Just bring any items you normally require for any weekend getaway. See the list for ideas and suggestions that will make your stay more comfortable.

Please note all meals are vegetarian and all facilities are smoke free.

List of What to Bring:

  • Towels (optional) &Toiletries
  • Warm clothes & Snow Shoes
  • Comfortable soft shoes or slippers for inside use (outside shoes are allowed to be worn inside retreat facility)
  • Loose fitting clothes (It is preferred that students wear clothes that cover the body well.)
  • Meditation blanket/shawl to cover over shoulder or head
  • Musical instrument ( if you can play music you can play for us)
  • Any special dietary or medical needs (please provide info in the application form)
  • A good attitude & A beginner’s mind

Rules to Observe:


 

Clothing

Dress should be simple, modest, and comfortable. Tight, transparent, revealing, or otherwise striking clothing (such as shorts, short skirts, tights and leggings, sleeveless or skimpy tops) should not be worn. Sunbathing and partial nudity are not permitted. An attitude of modesty prevails at all times. This is important in order to minimize distraction to others.

Laundry and Bathing

No washing machines or dryers are available, so students should bring sufficient clothing.

You Must Shower when you wake up. This is one of the practices that will be explained in details.
Outside Contacts

Students must remain within the course boundaries throughout the course. They may leave only with the specific consent of the teacher. No outside communication is allowed before the course is completely over. This includes letters, phone calls and visitors. Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices must be deposited with the management until the course ends.

In case of an emergency, a friend or relative may contact the management. Phone number will be provided after registration.
Music, Reading and Writing

The playing of musical instruments, radios, etc., is not permitted. No reading or writing materials should be brought to the course.

Students should not distract themselves by taking notes. The restriction on reading and writing is to emphasize the strictly practical nature of this practice.

Tape Recorders and Cameras

These may not be used except with the express permission of the teacher.
